To celebrate the conclusion of filming in the UK for Transformers: The Last Knight, director Michael Bay took to Facebook Live to chat with fans — or, well, to fans, really — live from the middle of shooting a ferocious battle that features upwards of 600 people.
Bay says they’re still shooting the film, with production moving to Africa next, and that the first teaser will drop in November or December. He also thanked the folks in the UK for their hospitality, which included the Queen letting the production use her driveway for a 92mph chase scene. His words, not ours!
Joining Bay in the video are what appear to be a bunch of battle extras, and you can see they’re all sorts of medieval looking, confirming this new Transformers movie will most certainly spend a great deal in different time periods, with battles occuring everywhere.
Previously we’ve seen the production donning World War II-era props, and considering the plot is rumored to be about Optimus Prime seeking an object that dates back to the time of King Arthur, the battle we see in the video above likely takes place during that time period. We’ve also had confirmation the film will feature scenes set on the planet Cybertron, and we’ll of course be on earth during present day alongside Mark Wahlberg’s character, who’s returning for another go-round.
Say what you will about another Transformers movie, but we like how they’re changing it up and giving us different kinds of robot action in various time periods, allowing the kinds of creative decisions we’ve yet to see from a Transformers film.
Transformers: The Last Knight hits theaters on June 23, 2017.
