Michael Weatherly explains ‘Bull’s’ approach to ‘trial science’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Highlight on New Movie Released DVD

Michael Weatherly left “NCIS” in May 2016, but in just a few short weeks he’ll be back on CBS as “Bull,” a jury consultant inspired by the early part of Dr. Phil McGraw’s career.

In Zap2it’s exclusive sneak peek, Dr. Jason Bull (Weatherly) explains that he’s an expert in “trial science,” which means he studies the behavioral patterns of jury members, using his findings to assemble a mirror jury to predict what the actual jury members are going to do.

At the 2016 summer TCA press tour, Weatherly told a small group of reporters that while it’s wonderful to remain part of the CBS family, it’s also nice that his two characters are so different.

Whereas “NCIS” Special Agent Tony DiNozzo needed Gibbs’ (Mark Harmon) “approval and validation,” Bull is the leader of his team.

“Unlike Gibbs, I’m not coming at it from a place of ruling by fear or intimidation. I rule with a more inclusive Kumbaya-up-with-people … [but] the Dinozzo in him is that he has a twinkle in his eye.”

“Bull” premieres Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
