New York Movie Theaters Outside of NYC Can Open at 25%

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on Saturday, within the first easing of COVID-19 restrictions in weeks, stated film theaters outdoors of New York City can begin reopening on Oct. 23.

Theaters in the remainder of the state shall be allowed to open at 25% capability, Cuomo stated, with a most of 50 individuals per screening room. “There will be mandatory social distancing and other precautions,” Cuomo tweeted.

Only film theaters in counties with COVID-19 positivity charges beneath 2% throughout a 14-day common shall be allowed to open, NBC four in New York City reported. Precautions will embody obligatory mask-wearing and assigned seating.

The announcement comes as many prime theater chains are struggling to remain in enterprise. Earlier this week, AMC, the biggest movie show exhibitor within the nation, stated it’s on monitor to expire of money by early 2021 and are actually renting out whole theaters to moviegoers in chosen areas.
