‘Once Upon a Time’ adds another member to Henry’s family tree

Highlight on New Movie Released DVD

“Once Upon a Time” added yet another member to Henry’s (Jared Gilmore) family tree, though luckily this time it wasn’t someone we already knew.

Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) has had a vendetta against fairies since Season 1, but we never fully understood where all that rage came from. After we found out the Blue Fairy (Keegan Connor Tracy) had given Baelfire (Michael Raymond-James) a magical bean to escape his father way back when, we naturally assumed that’s where the vendetta began.

However, as always seems to be the case with “Once Upon a Time,” there was a hidden backstory just waiting to come to light.

Before Rumple’s father abandoned him to become Peter Pan (Robbie Kay), his mother apparently also abandoned him to become the Dark Fairy (Jaime Murray). How and when and why this particular abandonment happened is still a mystery, but it’s already shedding a lot of light on Rumple’s blood feud with the fairies. He’s just working through his mommy issues in a seriously destructive way, right?

Speaking of destructive, the Rumbelle ships has officially sunk, and it’s all the Evil Queen’s (Lana Parilla) fault.

All hope isn’t lost yet for Rumple and Belle (Emilie de Ravin), but this latest hurdle will be doozy to tackle. Despite Belle warning him that he’d lose her forever if he sped up her pregnancy, Rumple apparently decided to do just that. One spiked cup of tea later, Belle was 9 months pregnant and heading to the nunnery to give birth.

Almost immediately after delivering her son, Belle handed her precious baby boy, Gideon (Giles Matthey), over to the Blue Fairy, ordering her to spirit him away somewhere Rumple could never find him. It was only after the fact that we realized the Evil Queen was the one who poisoned Belle and sped up her pregnancy, not Rumple. It seems like even when he decides to try to be good, he still manages to take the rap for others’ evil deeds.

Even if Belle could believe that the Evil Queen was responsible for her speedy delivery, we’re not sure it would help much. There is so much animosity between them at this point that they’ll need a something huge to bring them back together again — perhaps the endangerment of their son?

Given the major developments of Sunday’s (Nov. 27) episode, we’ve got a few new theories about who could be under that hood in Emma’s (Jennifer Morrison) vision.

Assuming magical hijinks ensue like they always seem to in Storybrooke, we wouldn’t be surprised if Gideon returned as an adult sooner or later. After all, that aging potion turned a 20-something fairy into a grandma, so we wouldn’t be surprised if Gideon ages more than the planned 9 months.

We’ve already speculated that an adult Morpheus — now properly named Gideon — could be under the hood, given who his father is, and now that’s he’s been taken away from the good influence of his mother, there’s no telling what or who he’ll become.

Our second growing theory is that the Black Fairy — a.k.a Rumple’s mom — could be under the hood.

She certainly seemed villainous enough in the short scene we got of her, despite a certain fondness for her son. Assuming the Black Fairy makes a return to the story in the present, she seems like a good candidate to be under the hood.
