Pixar Offers Colorful New Looks at ‘The Good Dinosaur’ and ‘Inside Out’

Pixar has released one movie every year since 2006. This year there were none. Originally, 2014 was supposed to be the year of The Good Dinosaur, but back in 2013 the studio decided that the movie, about a world in which dinosaurs never went extinct, needed fixing and so they delayed its release. Now, thanks to a piece in the L.A. Times, a little light has been shed on what exactly went wrong.

The short version of it is that the studio removed director Bob Peterson and replaced him with Peter Sohn (who was actually the inspiration for Russell in Up), which is not an uncommon occurrence at Pixar since everyone tends to work on multiple projects at the same time. In fact, half of the most recent Pixar movies have all had their directors change during production. However, this shake-up was an abnormally bumpy one and even resulted in 50 Pixar employees losing their jobs.

Thankfully the movie is now back on track and the studio has released a new look at the titular dino, which you can see above. And while it’s a bummer that having to fix the movie broke Pixar’s streak, its delay means that 2015 is now the first year the world gets two Pixar movies.

The Good Dinosaur is actually the second one to come out next year, the first being Inside Out. The studio has been fairly shy about showing off the latter movie (its first teaser trailer had more footage from other Pixar movies than it did Inside Out), but the Pixar folks recently released a batch of posters showing off the personalities of its main characters– a set of emotions that live inside a young girl’s brain.

Check ’em out:

Inside Out hits theaters on June 19, 2015; The Good Dinosaur on November 25, 2015.
