‘PLL’ Season 7 summer finale: Who shot Spencer?

Highlight on New Movie Released DVD

OK, “Pretty Little Liars” fans — there’s a lot to unpack from the Season 7 summer finale, so let’s jump right in.

Heads up

Noel Kahn (Brant Daugherty) is dead … and it seems legit. A lot of people have come back from the dead on “PLL,” but being decapitated by an axe seems pretty, ahem, cut and dried. We do not expect a Mona (Janel Parrish) style resurrection in the last 10 episodes.

If you’ve got questions for Daugherty, tweet them at Zap2itAndrea, we’ll be interviewing him tomorrow.

Toby’s car accident

So, Toby (Keegan Allen) and Yvonne’s (Kara Royster) accident was a random and upsetting thing to throw in there in the final frames. Is that just another case of someone trying to leave Rosewood and failing? Or is there something more sinister at work?

Who shot Spencer?

Re-watching the final scene in the creepy abandoned school revealed this timeline — Jenna (Tammin Sursok) shot at the girls, but then a second shot rang out as they were running down the stairs and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) let out a scream.

Later, as Mary Drake (Andrea Parker) cradled a bleeding Spencer, someone pulled Jenna’s unconscious body out of the nursery room. Jenna then asked that person if he or she shot Spencer and that person was revealed to have been wearing a mask and drove away in a black hoodie. So, there’s our A.D.

But who is A.D.?

We’ve been operating under the assumption for a while that Spencer was Mary’s child and therefore A.D. was someone else, but now we have confirmation. Mary revealed that Spencer is her daughter and A.D. is clearly not Spencer. So who is it?

Andrew Campbell, as we previously suggested as a possibility for the second Drake baby, seems unlikely. But Wren (Julian Morris) is still very much a possibility. His exact motives are still unclear, but he’s been Instagramming photos that imply he’s been having masks made and been on the “Pretty Little Liars” set — but he didn’t appear at all in Season 7a.

That seems pretty suspicious. Either way, we can’t wait for the final 10 episodes — it’s just a shame we have to wait so long. “Pretty Little Liars” final run debuts in April 2017.
