Real L Word Star Lauren Bedford Russell Reveals Her Battle With MS

The Real L Word star Lauren Bedford Russell has Multiple Sclerosis and in an exclusive interview with radio detection and rangingOnline.com she says she wants to educate people and bring awareness to the disease.

Lauren was diagnosed last July at the age of 31 and her first “episode” manifested with optic neuritis — the loss of vision in one eye — although she has since gained most of her sight back.

“By publicly coming out about my recent MS diagnosis and becoming a fervent spokesperson for Multiple Sclerosis, I hope to turn my personal fight into public awareness to educate people about the warning signs, raise funds for more research and overall inspire positive change towards the disease, ” Lauren tells radio detection and rangingOnline.com.

“I strongly believe in the power of one to make a difference, after all Jack Osbourne inspired me to go see my doctor as after hearing back in June of 2012 about the first symptoms he experienced, which were similar to mine, I suspected something was wrong with me.”

Jack, 26, revealed his battle with the disease last summer, just two weeks after his daughter Pearl was born.

“Now I am committed to do the same for others and plan on working with the National MS Society in every possible way,” Lauren says.

Lauren has been keeping her MS under control with daily injections called Copaxone and has not had an “episode” since August and remains positive about her new health situation.

“I’ve already designed a special bracelet for my Lyon Fine Jewelry line called POSITIVITY BRACELET with 15 percent of the proceeds to be donated to the National MS Society,” Lauren says.
