Sundance Film ‘Light From Light’ Acquired by Grasshopper

Paul Harrill’s Sundance ghost story “Light From Light,” starring Jim Gaffigan and Marin Ireland, has been acquired by Grasshopper Film, the distribution firm mentioned on Tuesday.

Grasshopper picked up U.S. distribution rights to the movie from author and director Harrill, and so they plan to launch the movie in theaters throughout the nation this fall.

“Light From Light” is described as an achingly stunning movie about two strangers who discover solace in each other whereas investigating a mysterious incident.

Following her lifelong curiosity within the paranormal, Sheila (Ireland) is requested to research a possible haunting at a Tennessee farmhouse. There she meets Richard (Gaffigan), a widower who thinks his just lately departed spouse should be with him. The investigation that ensues — which finally consists of Shelia’s son, Owen and his classmate Lucy — forces them to reckon with the course their lives have taken.

“‘Light From Light’ is a revelation,” Grasshopper Film President and founder Ryan Krivoshey mentioned in an announcement, “a mysterious, richly layered work, exquisitely written and directed, with wonderfully moving performances. It’s one of the most original American films I’ve seen in years. We’re excited to be working with Paul and the entire team on the release of this extraordinary film and can’t wait to share it with audiences around the country.”

The movie premiered on the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, and stars Josh Wiggins and Atheena Frizzel alongside Ireland and Gaffigan. The movie was produced by Elisabeth Moss, Sailor Bear producers James M. Johnston and Toby Halbrooks, Ten Acre Films’ Kelly Williams, and Ley Line Entertainment’s Tim Headington and Theresa Steele. Executive Producers are Jonathan Duffy (Ten Acre Films) and David Lowery (Sailor Bear).

Paul Harrill’s debut movie, the 2014 “Something, Anything” was a New York Times Critics’ Pick. His quick movies have performed at Sundance, Rotterdam, Clermont-Ferrand, and the Museum of Modern Art. “Light From Light” is his second function.

The deal was negotiated by Ryan Krivoshey, President and Founder of Grasshopper Film and Kristen Konvitz of ICM Partners.
