Superhero Buzz: Patrick Stewart on 'Wolverine 3,' Miles Teller on 'Fantastic Fou…

Patrick Stewart began his screen acting career in 1964 but he didn’t break out big in the U.S. until 1987, when he first appeared as Captain Jean-Luc Picard on TV’s Star Trek: The Next Generation. That was followed by starring roles in four Star Trek movies.

Meanwhile, Stewart moved into the superhero universe with his role as Charles Xavier, also known as Professor X. He’s played the character in six X-Men movies so far and is clearly a fan favorite. In a new interview about the upcoming third Wolverine spin-off movie, however, Stewart says: “I would imagine this is probably the end of this franchise for me. But the thing about science fiction and fantasy is that you can never, ever say it’s the end, it’s over.”

Hugh Jackman has already signaled that the movie will be his final appearance as Wolverine, so even if Stewart returns, we won’t seeing Jackman and Stewart teamed up as these characters again. Wolverine 3 is heading to theaters on March 3, 2017. [via io9]

Miles Teller has only portrayed young scientist turned superhero Reed Richards once, in last year’s Fantastic Four. The movie did not fare well with critics and was considered a box office disappointment in the U.S., although it ended up grossing more than $167 million worldwide.

Teller, however, has a more positive view of the movie. In a recent interview, he says: “I loved the cast, I loved the characters. I think it’s such an interesting dynamic. I love how much they really need to rely on each other. … Absolutely, I would do another one.”

Like Patrick Stewart, Tom Hiddleston was a busy working actor when he landed a role in a superhero movie that opened up many new opportunities. Hiddleston first appeared as the troublesome Loki in Thor before becoming a primary adversary in The Avengers and then a reluctant ally in Thor: The Dark World.

The character originally made a cameo appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but was cut before the movie was released because it was felt his brief appearance in Thor’s “dream sequence” would confuse audiences. Loki will definitely return in Thor: Ragnarok, and Hiddleston shared a photo via social media as confirmation.

He’s back!
