Ted Williams, the homeless man who became a YouTube sensation for his “golden voice,” was taken in to custody by Los Angeles Police Monday night after an altercation with his daughter. Williams and his daughter were removed from the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood around 9 PM after police received a disturbance call from hotel staff.
Ted says there’s a good reason the cops came knocking last night: One of his daughters decided to play a game of “Whoop Dat Trick” with his face!
Don’t you miss the days when Internet sensations basked in their 15 minutes of fame and then just faded into oblivion almost as quickly as they emerged? (When was that?! What 2003? Ah — the good old days!) Especially when said Internet sensation bares more of a resemblance to a bad episode of Jerry Springer than an enduring tale of redemption.
“Fists got to flying, none of which were mine,” the former radio personality and tells Entertainment Tonight. “In the process…, I got scratched on my face….My daughter hit me. It was just a misunderstanding.”
The Williams are in Los Angeles this week to appear in a two-part episode of Dr. Phil. In the second episode, which taped over the weekend and airs tomorrow. On the show, Ted is reunited with his estranged wife and five of his nine daughters, whom he walked out on 20 years ago after becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol
Daughter Janey doesn’t deny going upside Ted’s head — she just doesn’t feel particularly bad about it. (Kanye Shrug…)
“He said, ‘You, you fat [expletive],’ and when he said that, I just got angry,” she tells Dr. Phil.
Janay also insist that Daddy’s “sober alcohol for the past two years” is nothing more than a crock. Homegirl believes Ted’s been sipping the good stuff.
“He’s consumed at least a bottle of Grey Goose a night, at least. That’s not including the Coronas he orders, that’s not including Budweisers he orders, that’s not including the other alcohol, the wines. He drinks — heavily,” she claims.
Williams shot to fame last week after The Columbus Dispatch aired a video of him on the streets holding a sign about his voice. Since then the 53-year-old has been offered numerous voiceover jobs, including an announcing job for the Cleveland Cavaliers and another for Kraft Foods.
