The Internet Breaks Down What Happened During the First 2016 Presidential Debate

And just like that, the first presidential debate for Decision 2016 has come to an end.

On Monday evening, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton came together at Hofstra University in Long Island to discuss several topics impacting the American people.

Moderated by NBC News’ Lester Holt, the live televised event featured discussions themed to “America’s Direction, Achieving Prosperity and Securing America.”

In between topics ranging from national security to job creation, the Internet caught on to a few quotes and moments that resulted in memes, brand-new Twitter accounts and much more.

After watching the 90-minute debate, we’re gathering the biggest moments according to the world wide web. Take a look at the highlights below.

Donald Trump’s Sniffly Nose:

As soon as the debate kicked off, viewers noticed the businessman’s case of the sniffles. Is this the new Hillary cough?  

Where in the World Is Lester Holt?:

As the cameras stayed on the presidential nominees, some viewers were left wondering what happened to Lester.

Law & Order Without Mariska Hargitay:

When the debate topic turned to gun laws, Donald expressed his support for “law and order.” Soon after, the NBC drama hit the mind of some viewers.

Twitter Tales:

Donald denied one of his famous tweets from years ago after Hillary brought it to light. The Internet decided to resurface said-tweet and claimed it was deleted by his campaign after his remarks during the debate. Ultimately, it lives on.

Someone Call Sean Hannity

When defending his position on Iraq, Donald brought up his relationship with the Fox News anchor. “I spoke to Sean Hannity, which—everyone refuses to call Sean Hannity!” Donald shared. “I had numerous conversations with Sean Hannity at Fox.”

Hillary Clinton’s Shoulder Shake:

When it came to responding to some of her opponent’s remarks, Hillary decided to just shake it off.
