‘The Walking Dead’ doubles down with brutal Negan reveal

Highlight on New Movie Released DVD

After months of speculation and rumors, “The Walking Dead” returned on Sunday (Oct. 23), and answered the question that’s been keeping fans up at night. Not only do we now know who Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) killed, but the scene was brutal, tragic and is sure to change the series moving forward.

Just days before the Season 7 premiere episode — titled, “The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be” — was set to air, a huge spoiler leaked, revealing Negan’s victims. Yes, we said victims.

We were hoping the details that were revealed by The Spoiling Dead were incorrect. Alas, they were not. Prepare yourselves for mass amounts of grief. And, hey, if you have yet to see the episode, we suggest you turn back now as there are some major spoilers below.

Opening right where Season 6 left off, we find the unlucky member of the team to bite the big one was none other than Sgt. Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz). While he meets a similar fate in Robert Kirkman’s comics, it still comes as a huge blow.

After killing Ford, Negan showed he wasn’t finished as he took Glenn (Steven Yeun) out next. Many were wondering if he’d meet the same fate as in the comics, and last year’s death fakeout caused some fans to pause. How could the series put us through that torture only to kill the fan favorite anyway? We guess you could call that some epic foreshadowing.

As for those thinking Maggie (Lauren Cohan) would be joining Glenn in his bloody fate — we’re guilty of this, too! — it’s probably best she lives on. Not only does Maggie end up serving a very important role in the comics, but AMC may have been against the notion of beating a pregnant woman to death on television.

It may be the zombie apocalypse, and AMC may have produced some of the goriest scenes in TV history, but even they’ve got to have some morals!

“The Walking Dead” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
