“Supergirl” is finally getting another visit from Kara’s famous cousin, and it’s about time!
When “Supergirl” first announced Tyler Hoechlin would be guest starring in Season 2 as Superman himself, fans were excited to say the least. Superman had been the elephant in the room since the pilot — and while Kara had exchanged texts and emails with him, and the audience had seen flashes, we never got a real cameo until Season 2.
Hoechlin managed to exceed all our expectations with his pitch-perfect depiction of the Man of Steel, so much so that we were seriously bummed to see him go after just two episodes. And now we have confirmation that Clark Kent is returning to National City before Season 2 is out.

But what could be bringing Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) super-powered cousin back into the picture? That’s a tough question to answer.
At first, we assumed we’d see Clark return when we started getting more background on Mon-El (Chris Wood). His mother has all but declared war on Earth to get her son back (and restore herself as Queen of Daxam). An alien declaration of war sure sounds like a job for to Kryptonians.
There’s also the possibility that Clark could be helping Kara out with something less super, and more normal. Having lost her job as a reporter thanks to an issue of journalistic ethics, her cousin is the perfect person to put her career back on track. Kara doesn’t seem the type to call in a family favor to succeed professionally, but anyone can see she was meant to be a journalist. Clark is a big enough name in the right journalistic circles that he could probably swing another job for her. And if his visit as Clarke happens to turn into a visit as Superman, so be it!

Both of these options are great, but the most likely scenario for Clark’s return is Cadmus.
Lillian Luthor (Brenda Strong) has been lurking in the shadows all season long, plotting and planning to destroy the alien population on earth. Her tactics have already come close to getting Kara killed, and the night time she strikes Supergirl might need backup.
The season finale seems like a good time to trot out big cameos, so we’re not expecting to see Hoechlin turn up on our screens just yet. We’ll just have to wait patiently for his first sighting in National City.
“Supergirl” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
