During Tuesday’s (Nov. 15) episode of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” Gina (Chelsea Peretti) implied that she is the basis for a character on another FOX property.
“You’re not the basis for a character on ‘Empire,’ Jake, but I don’t throw that in your face every damn day,” says Captain Holt’s (Andre Braugher) assistant.

So, which “Empire” characters seem like the likeliest ones to be based on Gina Linetti — gotta be Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), right?
Kidding, kidding. But there are a few that are totally a Gina in disguise…
3. Tiana Brown (Serayah)

Gina’s whole thing is how much she loves to perform — her dance troupe has been a major plotline for the character for a couple seasons now.
But can she sing, like Serayah? Signs point to no, so maybe this isn’t a good fit after all.
2. Porsha Taylor (Ta’Rhonda Jones)

Cookie’s (Taraji P. Henson) executive assistant, who was once in trouble with the law for shoplifting, seems like a highly likely candidate. She’s outspoken and doesn’t care what anybody thinks, including her boss. It takes a special kind of person to sass Cookie Lyon and it takes a special kind of person to sass Captain Raymond Holt.
1. Becky Williams (Gabourey Sidibe)

Becky is the right-hand woman to boss man Lucious — and the reason this is actually a perfect fit is because Sidibe reveals in a behind-the-scenes interview that the part was written for “a boyish, short white girl.”
Now, we would not describe Peretti as “boyish” — though she isn’t rocking Sidibe’s curves — but it still is not hard to picture Gina click-clacking along behind Lucious, the real puppet master of Empire Records.
