Poor Dark World. Seven years on and nonetheless no-one actually defends the second Thor film – not even its one-time director Patty Jenkins, who finally left the undertaking and moved on to larger and higher issues with Wonder Woman.
As Wonder Woman 1984 pushes again its launch but once more (this time for the coronavirus pandemic), Patty Jenkins spoke to Vanity Fair about her determination to stroll away from Thor: The Dark World, hinting that the script was principally in charge.
“I did not believe that I could make a good movie out of the script that they were planning on doing,” she defined.
“I think it would have been a huge deal – it would have looked like it was my fault.”

Concerned that her being a girl would change into the main focus, slightly than the movie being inherently disappointing, Patty admitted that she dropped out to provide herself “another chance”.
“It would’ve looked like, ‘Oh my God, this woman directed it and she missed all these things’,” she added.
“That was the one time in my career where I really felt like, ‘Do this with [another director] and it’s not going to be a big deal. And maybe they’ll understand it and love it more than I do’.”

“You can’t do movies you don’t believe in,” she continued. “The only reason to do it would be to prove to people that I could. But it wouldn’t have proved anything if I didn’t succeed.”
This is not the primary time the WW84 director has recommended a person would’ve gotten away with a Dark World flop. Back in 2017, she mentioned she thought sticking with the job would’ve been “a big disservice to women.”
“If I take this knowing it’s going to be trouble and then it looks like it was me, that’s going to be a problem,” she mentioned at the moment.
“If they do it with a man, it will just be yet another mistake that the studio made. But with me, it’s going to look like I dropped the ball, and it’s going to send a very bad message.”
