Life after Ugly Betty is looking very attractive for newly-engaged star America Ferrera.

The 26-year-old star — who won an Emmy, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her portrayal of Betty Suarez on the defunct ABC dramedy Ugly Betty — has been tapped to host the ninth season of PBS’ long-running documentary series Independent Lens.

In April, The Alphabet Network pulled the plug on Ugly Betty due to poor ratings. However, America’s tango with unemployment was a short one. Ferrera will begin her stint as host of the award-winning anthology series when Independent Lens begins its new season of 27 documentaries on Oct. 19.

The actress now carries a torch previously held by past Independent Lens presenters including Susan Sarandon, Terrence Howard, and Edie Falco.
