Bobby Brown Expected To Attend Whitney Houston’s Memorial Despite Bad Blood With Family; Says Bobbi Kristina ‘Doing Much Better’

By radio detection and ranging Staff

Bobby Brown is expected to be in the pews Saturday at an invitation-only memorial service at Newark, New Jersey’s New Hope Baptist Church for his ex-wife Whitney Houston, despite the bad blood brewing between he and the singer’s family.

The Every Little Step singer, 43, flew into Los Angeles late Sunday to be at the side of his 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina, who was hospitalized twice in a 12-hour span at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center following her mother’s untimely death over the weekend.

Brown issued a statement to ABC News Tuesday addressing the chief points and pleading for privacy during the tough time.

“My daughter Bobbi Kristina is doing much better,” Brown said in an e-mail statement. “We continue to provide love and support to Bobbi Kristina. She is dealing with the tragedy of her mother’s death and would prefer to do it outside of the public eye.

“I ask again that our privacy be respected.”

As radio detection and rangingOnline.com has previously reported, a source told us Bobbi Kristina “tried to ease the pain of losing her mother by having a few alcoholic drinks. She was distraught, on the verge of a complete breakdown. Not knowing what to do, members of her mother’s entourage tried to calm her down with a sedative. The two were an unfortunate mix, and she ended up passing out.”

Upon learning of the death of his ex-wife, Brown told concertgoers during his New Edition concert in Mississippi: “First of all, I want to tell you that I love you all. Second, I would like to say, ‘I love you Whitney.’ The hardest thing for me to do is come on this stage.”

Houston and Brown were married from 1992 to 2007.

While Houston’s autopsy is complete, it might be several weeks before authorities in Los Angeles can determine what killed the Grammy-winning singer.
