All 8 'Harry Potter' Movies Re-releasing in IMAX Ahead of 'Fantastic Beasts&#039…

A lot of movie franchises kick off the release of a new movie with a marathon of previous installments. For the Harry Potter brand, its latest is an offshoot set many decades before the central Harry Potter series, so it doesn’t exactly require a lengthy lead-in. But Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be ushered in by the original movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, plus its seven sequels. Not only will you be able to see them all on the big screen again, but each is being shown in IMAX.

There’s a good chance you didn’t see many of the Harry Potter movies in IMAX originally, and the first two installments — Sorcerer’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets were never released in the format before now. The other reason this group re-release is different is that it’s going on for a whole week instead of a single day, but it’s also not directly leading to the release of Fantastic Beasts. The Harry Potter IMAX screenings happen October 13-20. Fantastic Beasts opens November 18.

Those looking forward to the new movie, though, can attend a special fan event on October 13. In addition to the Harry Potter screenings, there will be a preview reel of exclusive footage from Fantastic Beasts. And at some locations there will be special guests, live Q&As and more. As with any fan event, we can bet that there will be a lot of cosplaying. In fact, you can probably expect to see some scarves and Hogwarts emblems throughout the week. 

Tickets are available now, but some ticket information is still being updated, so check your local listings for specific information. One thing that’s known is there will be four different admission packages, as follows: 

Single Ticket; Day Access (admittance to three or more shows in a single day); Four-Show Access (admittance to four shows any time, any day); and Festival Access (unlimited admittance throughout the event). Packages offered and pricing may vary by theatre.
