Disney Channel program “Good Luck Charlie” is about to break some new ground for the kids’ network — an episode next season will feature a child with two moms.
TV Guide reports that in one episode of “Charlie’s” final season, Charlie’s (Mia Talerico) parents set up a playdate for her with a friend who happens to have two moms. It is actually the secondary storyline for the episode, which will feature Teddy (Bridgit Mendler) dealing with her best friend Ivy going off to college.
Either way, it is a first for the Disney Channel.
“This particular storyline was developed under the consultancy of child development experts and community advisors. Like all Disney Channel programming, it was developed to be relevant to kids and families around the world and to reflect themes of diversity and inclusiveness,” says a spokesperson for Disney.
