Evidently there has been some kerfuffle over the recasting of Hellboy. Just to give my two cents here. Ron Perlman was perfect for the role, but Golden Army was 11 goddamn years ago. That ship has sailed. Yes, it sucks. but we should judge this Hellboy (both movie and character) on its own merits. Comparing this one to Perlman's version is like comparing Henry Cavill's Superman to Reeves', no crap it's going to fall short.
