20th Century Fox

After years of attempting, actor Leonardo DiCaprio lastly gained an Oscar for his work in The Revenant in 2016. Since then, nevertheless, the Academy Award winner hasn’t acted in another movies or tv applications. This will quickly change with Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, in addition to a bunch of different tasks. The latter now consists of, in response to Variety, the subsequent film by The Shape of Water director Guillermo del Toro, which sounds unsurprisingly creepy.

Per the report, DiCaprio is in talks to star in Nightmare Alley, del Toro’s remake of the 1947 movie noir that, in flip, is an adaptation of William Lindsay Gresham’s 1946 novel of the identical identify. However, although this iteration of the story is technically a remake of the 1947 movie, Variety notes that del Toro and co-writer Kim Morgan’s script is way extra trustworthy to Gresham’s authentic novel. Both comply with Stanton Carlisle, a con-man who adopts the questionable practices of carnival staff to swindle rich shoppers.

After studying from Zeena, the carnival’s lead mentalist, Carlisle and Molly Cahill depart to type their very own duo of seemingly critical tarot card readers, spiritualists and mediums. After some time, he seeks the help of a psychologist named Lilith Ritter who in the end out-swindles him and leaves him for broke. Much of this was on show within the 1947 movie, although it emphasised the noir features over the religious components that Gresham’s e-book was filled with. Unsurprisingly, it appears del Toro and firm will likely be revisiting these.
