Reel TV: David Fincher Heads Back To Serial Killers In First Trailer For 'Mindhunter'
Nobody investigates the macabre quite like David Fincher. We don’t want to say he’s obsessed with the world of murderers because his filmography certainly extends well beyond the topic, but he is responsible for some absolutely incredible movies about the minds of maniacs. And no two are the same, either. He’s great at the overtly theatrical (Se7en), the quiet and methodical (Zodiac), the conspiratorial (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo), and the surreal (Gone Girl).
But now it looks like all of those classic movies are colliding a bit in the first teaser trailer for Mindhunter, a new Netflix original series produced and directed by Fincher. The teaser itself is remarkably cryptic, opting for mood and gloom over introducing characters and storylines, but we do know that it’s based on the book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit by John Douglas.
