Resident Evil: The Final Chapter gets an international trailer – It’s hard to believe that they’re still making Resident Evil movies, but they are – at least one more, anyway. Sony has revealed several new trailers for the latest (and supposedly final) installment, including this international clip.

Milla Jovovich’s Alice is going home in the teaser – and she’s all set to run into Iain Glen and a host of other familiar faces to finish the tale of the evil Umbrella Corporation once and for all.

Is this really the end of the line for the franchise? We’ll find out after the film releases in January 2017.

Cult classic C.H.U.D. is finally coming to Blu-ray — If you grew up in the ‘80s and spent a lot of time in video stores, then you are undoubtedly familiar with C.H.U.D.. Douglas Cheek’s 1984 film didn’t get much critical love upon its release, but it did eventually find a throng of adoring fans who just can’t get enough of its story about something monstrous lurking in the sewers under Manhattan.

Now, the fine folks at Arrow are bringing the feature to Blu-ray, where a whole new generation can learn that C.H.U.D. stands for Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dweller. Here’s what you can expect when it hits retail shelves at a date to be announced later.

Jason’s Dead as CW passes on Friday the 13^th TV series – Things were looking pretty bleak for Jason Voorhees’ new weekly TV series, and now the dream is apparently dead. The CW, who was interested in bringing the iconic slasher villiain’s exploits to the small screen, has revealed they’re no longer involved with the project.

CW President Mark Pedowitz offered up the following rationale for passing:

“It was well-written, it was darker than we wanted it to be, and we didn’t believe it had sustainability … We didn’t believe that it was a sustainable script, a sustainable series. It was a very good pilot, but not a sustainable series.”

Personally, the whole “it was too dark” thing makes me want to see it even more. If no one else picks it up, I at least hope fans get a look at the pilot and what might have been.

First teaser trailer for Found Footage 3D debuts – While many of you profess to be tired of found footage films, I still find the subgenre interesting. Sure, it’s reached a point where it recycles a lot of the same old tropes, but so does slasher cinema, and we all still love that.

Anyway, here’s the first teaser trailer for Steven DeGenarro’s upcoming Found Footage 3D. The trailer is pretty clever, in that it lulls you into forgetting this is a horror movie. Instead, it looks like a sort of quasi-documentary about a group of filmmakers attempting to make a scripted found footage horror flick in 3D. Then things go horribly wrong when the action suddenly becomes real.

Check out the trailer below. The film is slated to appear at Fright Fest later this month.

Bruce Campbell’s Horror Film Fest reveals special events – if you don’t want to go all the way to Fright Fest to see Found Footage 3D, then you can also catch it (and a ton of other cool screenings and events) at this year’s Bruce Campbell Horror Film Fest.

The event takes place from August 18-21 at Wizard World Chicago, and offers up tons of cool screenings guaranteed to please horrorhounds.

Some of the highlights for 2016 include 30^th anniversary screenings of Fred Dekker’s beloved Night of the Creeps and Barbara Crampton vehicle From Beyond, viewings of Monster Squad and Don’t Breathe, and a special version of Doug Benson’s Movie Interruption wherein Campbell will talk all things Army of Darkness.

If that’s not enough, fans can also check out the first episode of the upcoming season of Starz’s Ash vs. Evil Dead.

Horror on the Horizon

Summer is winding down, which means two things: Halloween is right around the corner, and there’s basically nothing that will appeal to horror fans playing at the local movie house for the next two weeks.

Your best bet for a few jump scares is Don’t Breathe, which finds three young friends getting way more than they bargained for when they break into a blind man’s house expecting to rob him. Think evil Zatoichi and you’re on the right track.

Things are a lot better if you’re a fan of staying home to watch movies. August 23 is chock full of season packages of popular TV shows, including the first season of Starz’s amazing Ash vs. Evil Dead. You can also get the latest season of zombie soap opera The Walking Dead, the new season of The Strain, and Fox’s disappointing Lucifer (I had such high hopes for that one…). Oh, and Clown is available if you actually like films.

August 30 is way more disappointing, with only three releases – including the weirdly titled Deadtimes Story.
