Universal’s ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ Set for September Release in


“Dear Evan Hansen,” Universal’s movie adaptation of the Broadway stage musical, will likely be launched on Sept. 24, the studio introduced Friday.

Ben Platt will reprise his Tony-winning function within the upcoming adaptation. He’ll be joined within the movie by Amandla Stenberg, Amy Adams and Julianne Moore, who will play Heidi Hansen, mom to Platt’s Evan.

“Dear Evan Hansen” is the story of a highschool senior who has extreme social nervousness and has bother connecting with others and making buddies. After the suicide of a classmate, Evan will get caught in a lie that brings him nearer to his classmate’s household. Also co-starring within the movie are Kaitlyn Dever, Colton Ryan, Danny Pino and Nik Dodani.

Stephen Chbosky (“Wonder,” “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”) is directing “Dear Evan Hansen.” Steven Levenson, who wrote the ebook for the stage musical, wrote the script. Marc Platt (“La La Land”) and Adam Siegel will produce for his or her Universal-based banner Marc Platt Productions. The movie adaptation may even function Grammy-winning songs, together with “You Will Be Found,” “Waving Through a Window,” “For Forever” and “Words Fail.”

Universal’s senior vice chairman of manufacturing Sara Scott and director of improvement Lexi Barta will oversee manufacturing on behalf of the studio.
