‘The Voice’: Jermaine Paul talks winning while Tony Lucca explains the drama

the-voice-final-four-nbc.jpgAfter countless rehearsals and performances, “The Voice” crowned its winner in Jermaine Paul on Tuesday (May 8). Following the show, the four finalists took a moment to reflect on the competition, how far they’ve come and what their future holds.

Here’s the best of what they had to say…

Jermaine Paul on winning: “I feel blessed. God is good…It’s such an amazing feeling to know that you’re here not because of a coach or a person or a producer, but you’re here because America said, ‘Hey dude, you’re the guy.'”

Tony Lucca on whether the tension between Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera had an impact on the outcome: “I’m not going to be naive to think that it didn’t. I think that maybe the takeaway here is that America is not interested in that brand of drama…Maybe I got caught in the crossfire.”

Juliet Simms on the results: “I wanted second place…When I looked at this whole thing to begin with, to become ‘The Voice’ was just out of this world for me to imagine. But I could imagine myself in second place. And that’s what I got.”

Chris Mann on his future: “I think that this show and Christina’s [Aguilera] endorsement has helped me be the next classical crossover artist…Michael Buble, Josh Groban and me.”

Jermaine Paul on what was running through his mind as the results were being announced: “I was in disbelief that I wasn’t in fourth or third…I accepted the fact that I was going to win or lose, and I was ok with that.”

Tony Lucca on what the judges can learn:
“Maybe America doesn’t give a s*** about your drama and your banter and how witty and clever you can one up each other. I’m sure they’ll find out as the show grows and evolves.”

Chris Mann on Jermaine Paul winning: “Jermaine’s my best friend on the show. He was my roommate on the show. I could not be happier for him. I think I was almost more excited that he won than myself.”

Juliet Simms on having Cee Lo as a mentor: “He’s everything rock and roll. He’s everything soul. He gets me inside and out. We were just a perfect pair for each other.”
